Incredible Years Autism Spectrum Disorder and Language Delays Parenting Training Program Group Leader Training

This online training will cover in-depth the Autism Spectrum and Language Delays Parent Program for parents of children ages 2–5 years old. This workshop will train group leaders to deliver the Autism Spectrum and Language Delays Program in a parent group setting. This program can be used as a 14-16 week stand-alone curriculum for a group of parents all of whom have children on the Autism Spectrum or with language delays. It can also be used by group leaders delivering the Toddler or Basic Preschool IY Programs as a supplement if there are parents in the group with children on the Autism Spectrum or with language delays.

Goals of the parent training series

• Increase parents’ positive relationships, sensitivity, and attachment with their children.
• Increase parents’ understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and encourage developmentally appropriate expectations.
• Increase parents’ strategic use of focused and positive attention with children by means of coaching skills, imaginary and creative play interactions, praise and responsive feedback, and reduce the use of criticism, unnecessary commands, and negative attention.
• Increase parents’ understanding of how to promote their children’s cognitive, emotional, social, and language learning.
• Increase family support networks and reduce stress.
