SEMINAR DESCRIPTION

This training is divided into two semis as the first 3 lessons and the last 3 lessonsc It is specially planned to be able to evaluate and apply after basic education the first semi.

The first 3 lessons of this course are an introduction to Oral Motor and OPT (Oral Placement Therapy) and are the basis of TalkTools training. OPT is a type of oral-motor therapy that targets specific movements necessary for speech and feeding. iThis therapy has been found to be particularly effective for cases that do not respond to traditional therapy and may need additional input.

The basic "3 parts" of OPT are:

  1. Speech
  2. Feed
  3. Sensory – this "part" is what distinguishes our approach to therapy from traditional approaches.

OPT combines the senses on which traditional speech therapy is based – auditory, visual and tactile, proprioceptive and interoceptive sensory systems.

TalkTools® training applies a unique, hierarchical approach in which activities and goals are built on top of each other, which allows both therapists and cases of all ages to end up in a measurable, outcome-oriented way and diagnose with the following objectives:

  • Speech clarity
  • Better feeding
  • Independence

IMPROVED QUALITY OF LIFE

After the completion of the first 3 lessons of the training, participants will be given a 1-month break to observe, experience and practice what they have learned; then it will be continued for the evaluation and implementation part of the training.

The last 3 lessons of this training, as an interactive and hands-on course, include highly motivating activities that focus on WHOLE the child, namely all parts such as the "orofacial region (chin, lips and tongue), sensory system, posture, abdominal strength, tone, sitting and fascia". The techniques which learned can be easily applied in many therapy settings, such as private applications, hospitals, schools and the home.

In the last 3 lessons, you will learn how to conduct a comprehensive assessment for patients with sensory, nutritional and/or speech impairments, following the principles of oral-motor assessment and its hierarchical approach to therapy using techniques learned in the first 3 lessons.

This training will walk you step-by-step through the assessment process used in cases of different ages and skill levels where Oral Motor deficiencies are identified. Through videos, participants will observe and observe therapy with two full assessment sessions and clients from infancy to adulthood and learn how to identify oral-motor deficits that affect speech/feeding production.

Also in this training, the development of therapeutic program plans specifically designed to meet the Oral Motor needs of each case will be discussed. On day 5, there will be a live assessment, which will allow participants to observe patient skills, record their observations in an evaluation form, and develop a therapeutic plan from these results.

Note: Oral Motor Tool Kit will be sent to participants before the training. Tool Kit is included in the price.

After the training, participants will receive an ASHA approved certificate with a total of 2.4 CEU points.

We are confident that you will leave this training with advanced skills in assessing and developing a program plan for each patient with Oral Motor needs.

LEARNIN OUTCOMES

Participants who have completed this training:

  • You will receive an ASHA approved certificate.
  • Evaluate oral motor/feeding/speech problems based on muscle systems appropriately,
  • Integrate hierarchies for motor decomposition and grading (jaw-lip-tongue),
  • Can plan therapeutic intervention programs to address physiological and motor based speech disorders,
  • Can practice at least 10 new therapy techniques,
  • Can appropriately use oral placement techniques to improve individual speech clarity and production,
  • Identify and diagnose Oral Motor, sensory, feeding and/or speech deficiencies in various clients,
  • Evaluate the Oral Motor functioning of the jaw, lips and tongue,
  • Can design a step-by-step program plan based on the results of the client's oral motor feeding and speech evaluation,
  • When appropriate and adequate, the infant may practice Oral Motor strategies with preschoolers and school-age children as part of a comprehensive speech and language therapy intervention.
